8 Healthy Lunch Box Tips for your Kids

We have all had the dilemma of what else can I put in the lunchbox to add variety to my child’s lunchbox.

To be honest, most children prefer the predictability of a few of their favourites. If you don’t have time to cut off the crusts or make star shaped sandwiches be satisfied your children just want to eat what you have made then go and play ASAP.

  1. Make the lunches the night before while dinner is cooking.
  2. Pack them into lunchboxes with the drink on top or somewhere easy to find
  3. Keep sandwiches simple; remember there is no refrigeration to keep them fresh.
  4. Ham and cheese, vegemite, chicken and lettuce or salad are perfect for school lunches. Of course if your child is a little more adventurous then go for it.
  5. Multigrain is the best bread for us all, higher in fibre and low GI, you can mix it up with a wrap, toasted sandwich or a small roll for variety
  6. Add to the feast some fruit, crispbread with cheese, a water bottle or small juice and maybe a sweet treat to end with
  7. Avoid soft drink and sugary cordials and some juices – water really is the best
  8. Give your child a choice of two alternatives; only that way they get a choice
